Proper hygiene is important for a child's health and self-esteem. At Refresh Little Elm, our mission is to ensure that every child in our community has access to personal hygiene items. We can only accomplish this mission with your help and the help of others. Please consider donating so we may be able to supply a quarterly Refresh Pack of hygiene items to every child in need in Little Elm ISD. Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of many Little Elm kids!
Our organization connects with students in need through the Little Elm ISD school staff and administration. Quarterly, we deliver individual pre-packaged bags (Refresh Packs) to Little Elm ISD schools that include essential hygiene products to last each child for 3 months. Our care packages are discreetly distributed via the school or drive thru pick-up and the student's identity is protected and confidential.
Our Refresh Packs are tailored to the child's age, gender preference and ethnicity. A basic pack will include toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, shampoo, conditioner, body wash/bar soap, lip balm, comb/brush, and lotion. Packages for those in middle and high school will also include shaving cream, deodorant, and feminine products. We also include a Refresh Card (handwritten message of encouragement) in each pack.
Good hygiene promotes better health and prevents illness, infections, and rashes from spreading. Good personal hygiene increases self-confidence and helps children to feel good about themselves and their appearance. Lack of self esteem, especially during the teenage years, can negatively impact a student's performance in school as well as their ability to form meaningful relationships and friendships. Many situations (job loss, death, divorce, medical issues) contribute to the numbers of those in financial crisis on the rise in our community. As of January 2020, of the students enrolled in LEISD, 39% (over 3,146 students) are economically disadvantaged. Hygiene items are NOT covered under government assistance programs such as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), making the need for these items even greater.
To be eligible to receive our Refresh Packs, your child must meet both criteria listed below:
*Attend a school in Little Elm ISD (this includes Evening Academy Program and Zellars Center for Learning & Leadership)
*Qualify for LEISD's Free and Reduced Price Meal program.
If you meet the eligibility requirements above, click here to enroll for the 2022/23 school year.
Refresh Little Elm provides children enrolled in our program with individual pre-packaged bags (Refresh Packs) that include full-sized essential hygiene products to last for 3 months. Once your child is enrolled, they are enrolled for the remainder of the school year.
Our Refresh Packs are tailored to the child's age, gender preference and ethnicity. A basic pack (for elementary students) includes toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, shampoo, conditioner, body wash/bar soap, lip balm, comb/brush, and lotion. Packs for those in middle and high school will also include shaving cream, deodorant, and feminine products for females. (Additional items such as hand sanitizer or sunscreen may also be provided, based on the season.) Each pack also includes a Refresh Card (handwritten message of encouragement).
Our Refresh Packs are delivered once a quarter (so once every 3 months). Our distributions are typically in August, November, February, and May. Once enrolled, you will receive several emails before each distribution with details on when and where packs will be distributed. Our packs will be available for pick up through drive-thru distributions or will be delivered to schools.
